As we head back to school after a great Christmas break we wanted to post some pictures of some of the amazing celebrations GCS participated in over the holidays. Caroling in Mount Gilead and our Christmas concert. Hopefully everyone was able to spend the holidays with family and friends reflecting on all that God has done in your lives.

The GCS Cyber Eagles competed against some of the top high schools in Ohio and surprised many with their skill, determination and spirit. The life long skills of problem solving, teamwork and continuous improvement are the reason so many companies and colleges offer STEM scholarships to the participants.

The GCS Cyber Eagles travel to the Mt Vernon Energy Field House (near Mt Vernon HS) for their first tournament of the season. Qualification matches will run from 10 until 2, with elimination matches to determine who proceeds to the state championships. The students have designed, built and programed their own robots and now they compete against the top high teams in the state.

6th grade had a gingerbread decorating contest which proved to be pretty competive. After the judging, the studends participated in the clean up. The boys deserve an honorable mention for repurposing the wreckage of a demolished train and making it into a Bethlehem Inn.

The 6th grade Art class was in the Christmas spirit this month as they made gingerbread houses out of cardboard and air dry clay this month!

Our teachers and staff are so blessed to have such an amazing PTO that spoils us for the holidays!

Join us this Thursday at 7 p.m. in the chapel at South Campus (Gilead Friends Church) as we retell some of O. Henry's classic stories, such as "The Gift of the Magi. " Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the South Campus office or at the door.

On Friday afternoon, December 13th, some of our sixth graders volunteered to join in the Food Pantry ministry of Edison Enterprise Baptist Church which distributes food monthly to those in need.
Lillian L. and Casen B. filled vital roles in packing boxes with proper portions as folks proceeded through the assembly line. When discussing this opportunity, we first wanted it to be an offering of love and with the ambition of giving back to our community as expressed through the hands and feet of Christ. Beyond that we learned that developing relationships and experiencing the benefits of service added many blessings not imagined.
The organization includes a wonderful group of volunteers who faithfully serve. Hat's off to the staff and volunteers who make it all happen. May your ministry be fruitful in the increase of the Kingdom of God.

First grade on a digraph hunt in their books!

We are one week away from our winter play, "An O. Henry Christmas." Tickets are available at the South Campus office and at the door.
The Theater Department has also announced their spring show, "Aesop Live!" Auditions will be open for students in 7th-12th grade. Please see below for important dates.

Sacrificing a portion of our class time to fine tune our skits for the Christmas concert.

Job well done, everyone!

This week, we are getting ready for our Christmas Programs. Our K12 program is on Thursday, December 12th, at 6:30 p.m., and our ECC program will be on the following evening, Friday, December 13th, at 6:30 p.m. Both concerts will be held at the South Campus. Lastly, a special shout out to BJ, who represented our school by helping to carry the flag with other local school athletes. BJ is part of our bowling team.
