This week at out Summer STEM Club gathering, we had hands-on Small Engine Repair and Auto Shop I-Preventative and Routine Maintenance of Passenger Vehicles. We also talked shop safety. We inventoried what tools most shops need and how to troubleshoot the most commonly recurring problems and how to be proactive them by making some simple observations and using the multimeter to find what it could be. Important above all is scheduling preventative maintenance that would help avoid costly mistakes later

One thing that is critical in preventative maintenance is checking tire pressure and rotating tires on a regular basis. Here we see some students taking part in operating an impact wrench to remove and replace wheel nuts. This of course is followed up with the proper use of a torque wrench and tightening the nuts to spec.

Huge story to tell about Fostoria and our STEM Club field Trip. If you hadn’t seen it in the news, 100,000 people drove to the site and only 50,000 got in. Our vehicle was not one of them. Frustrating, yes. Memorable moment with the kiddos, you bet. Next day, I personally followed Union Pacific "Big Boy 4014 to Arcadia, OH, and I can’t wait to show you the videos. The pics are the closest we got-1/10 of a mile, in traffic over 4 hours and miles of cars to go. The UP 4014 is the largest steam locomotive in operation today. These pictures don't do this 1.2 million pound monster any justice. -Mr. Thomas

Don't forget to join us on Saturday for the Morrow County Independence Day Parade! We won't know where in the parade line we are till that day. Those participating in the parade may park in the school parking lot and walk over to the fairgrounds. Volunteers should be able to point you in the right direction to find us. Please arrive by 1:30 pm. The parade begins at 2:00 PM.
Parents may walk/ride with us or go watch the parade and pick up their students afterward. Following the parade, students will be transported back to the GCS Elementary School for pickup.
Also, remember to plan accordingly to the weather and the heatwave we've been experiencing. Water bottles, sunscreen, etc., are highly recommended.
